Security has become an increasingly important topic for faith communities around the country. On November 5th we were reminded of this again with the Sutherland Springs shooting. Unfortunately, the trend is driven by an increase in the number of violent incidents over the last 15 years.
In the last 5 years alone, the US has seen violent incidents at houses of worship increase by 143%*.
Part of One Call Now’s mission is to ensure that faith communities are prepared to communicate with their congregants and stakeholders in the event of an emergency.
In a recent survey, we asked nearly one thousand faith communities across the country to tell us what safety and security matters are most important to them, as well as what measures they have in place to keep congregants safe before, during and after an incident.
